Carbamoyl-phosphate synthase 1, mitochondrial (CPS1) is a gene that encodes a protein that catalyzes the synthesis of carbamoyl phosphate from ammonia and bicarbonate. The protein may also function as a core mitochondrial nucleoid protein. Missense mutations, nonsense mutations, silent mutations, and frameshift insertions and deletions are observed in cancers such as intestinal cancer, lung cancer, and peritoneal cancer.
