Lactate dehydrogenase A (LDHA) is a gene that encodes a protein that functions as an enzyme in anaerobic glycolysis. The protein catalyzes the conversion of L-lactate and NAD to pyruvate and NADH. Missense mutations, nonsense mutations, silent mutations, and frameshift insertions and deletions are observed in cancers such as intestinal cancer, skin cancer, and stomach cancer.
